What type of website do you need?

Landing page, company website or online store. How to choose the right type of site for your business goal.

Not every business needs the same website. Choosing well from the start saves money, time and frustration. Here are the most common options, who each one is for, and how to avoid the most frequent mistake: copying another business without asking whether it fits your goal.

A landing page is a single page focused on one goal: getting visitors to take a specific action, like messaging you or leaving their details. It's ideal for promotions, launches or validating an idea quickly on a small budget.

A company website has several pages (home, services, about, contact) and builds trust and credibility. It's the best choice for established businesses whose customers research before deciding, like professional services or B2B companies.

An online store lets you sell directly with a catalog, cart and payments. It requires more upfront investment but pays for itself when the goal is selling products around the clock.

There's also a middle ground many businesses overlook: a multi-page site with a visual catalog and quote request forms. It works well for custom projects where pricing depends on each client.

The most common mistake is choosing based on what looks good elsewhere. A restaurant that only needs a menu and reservations doesn't need ten pages; a consultancy built on trust shouldn't rely on a single landing page.

Consider how often your information changes. If prices or products change frequently, choose a site you can update yourself or keep on a maintenance plan.

Budget should match expected return. If you're still validating demand, a simple landing page may be enough before investing in a full store.

Speed and mobile experience are requirements, not extras. Most visitors arrive on their phones, and a slow site loses them before they read a word.
